Preheat The Oven To 375 Degrees F

Replace A Flat Top Electric Stove Element:

Turn off the power to the oven.
Open the door of the oven and remove any racks or dishes inside.
Shut off all gas and electric lines to the stovetop by turning off each line at its supply cabinet receptacle (usually located near your range hood).
Disconnect wires from Element #1 (the top burner) using a pair of wire cutters or pliers – be sure not to pinch any wires. Leave enough “wiggle room” on both ends of the cut wires so you can attach the new element wire.
Clip or twist Element #2’s white cable just below its plug – leave enough “wiggle room” on both ends of the cut wire.
Strip about 1/4 inch (6 mm) of insulation off one end of each blue-green electrical wire and wrap it around one end of each black electrical wire in a clockwise direction (as shown in the picture). Then secure with a heat-shrink tubing crimp connector, as shown.

Position the Element #1 wires over Element #2’s white cable so the ends meet in a “Y” shape. Push down on the wires to ensure they’re tightly attached – don’t use too much force, or you could damage both elements.
Replace Element #1 by gently pushing it into place over Element #2. Make sure the wires are tightly attached and that the “Y” shape lines up correctly – if not, gently twist or rotate Element #1 until it’s in the correct alignment.

Reattach lines to elements (using wire cutters/pliers as needed) and plug them into your wall outlet. You do if everything looks good and all the indicator lights are on.
Replace The Entire Stovetop Unit:
If all of the above steps fail to correct the problem, then replacing the entire stovetop unit may be necessary. To replace the entire unit, unscrew the four screws holding down the top cover and remove them.
Next, disconnect all the cables underneath (3 black & 2 white).
Once everything disconnect, lift it away from the wall and lay on a clean surface.
Underneath each element is three wires – 2 red & 1 black. Disconnect these cables by pulling out straight staples: as shown in figure b below. If you have an additional wire connected to these elements (2 red + 1 black), then cut that extra wire off now. Strip about 1/ 2″ of insulation off both ends of each cable.
Reattach the wires by pressing them into the staple holes and screwing in screws (shown in figure c below). Ensure all connections are secure – you don’t want any elements falling off while cooking.
Put the top cover back on and screw down four screws. Reinstall the wall bracket and plug everything back in. Voila! Your stovetop now fixes.
